Linux Vps Setup
Before going in on the big 3 cloud providers… let’s focus on something important. Being able to host apps, and websites on a simple Linux virtual private server.
You won’t believe the amount of developers who have no idea how to host and deploy the software they’ve built. And we’re talking about both backend and frontend engineers with years of experience. Companies created the perfect silo’s to keep people dependent. I’ve always been curious to learn how everything works and fortunately for me I’ve become quite accustomed to mastering everything.
THEY’D RATHER go the route of paying a lot of money to companies to do this for them than just buying a simple $5 vps.
Context:
I’ve been running a $5 with 1 GB RAM for 15 years where I had 20 different apps running at any given time. Had I bought specific cloud services… i would have spent 100’s of $ per month.
Right now apart from my raspberry pi which is runnig at home I have 3 VPS’es which I use for personal / professional. APart from VPS:“es i’ve set up for clients. You may not believe it but most projects i BUILT still run on 1 or 2 VPS for the majority of my freelance SMB clients. Give or take some terraform scripts which can grow/add a new VPS if needed.
